Changes include simplified user experience, access for lobbyist employers to edit contracts, prompts to update registration each biennium
The Public Disclosure Commission will launch the last major phase of its redesigned lobbyist reporting system on June 3.
Updates to the system include a redesigned lobbyist registration system (L-1) and updated processes for setting up lobbyist employment contracts and creating user profiles.
Other changes include:
- Firms may now assign lobbyist agents to specific contracts. This change answers a user request to clarify for the public when individual lobbyists, rather than the entire firm, are representing a certain client.
- Filers may also terminate agents from contracts. This tool also adds clarity for the public while preserving the historic record of representation.
- Lobbyist employers can edit L-1 registrations and return them to lobbyists with notes for follow-up or countersigning.
- Lobbyists and lobbyist employers will be prompted to review their profile for changes each biennium. This helps ensure that the public has the most up to date information and that the PDC staff can reach filers with important notices.
The PDC previously released updates to its lobbyist filing system that redesigned and improved monthly lobbyist reporting (L-2) and lobbyist employer annual reporting (L-3).
We’ll post links to instructions and updated webpages for some of the new aspects of the lobbyist filing system when the update goes live.
