Description

The complaint alleged that Spokane for Honest Government, a political committee that received funding from the Spokane Firefighters Union and its political committees, may have failed to timely report independent expenditures and electioneering communications on C-6 reports during the 2015 Spokane City Council elections, as required by RCW 42.17A.260 and .305; and may have failed to adequately describe the purpose of expenditures for media buys on timely filed C-4 reports, as required by RCW 42.17A.240 and WAC 390-16-037.   At an enforcement hearing held October 26, 2017, the Commission found that Spokane for Honest Government violated RCW 42.17A.260, .305, and .240, and assessed a $10,000 penalty with $3,000 suspended, provided the committee is not found to have committed further violations during the next four years, and meets its filing obligations for 2017 following the hearing.
