Monday, May 17 kicks off the 2021 candidate filing week in Washington state.
Candidates who have filed for office with their county elections office or the Secretary of State should also check with the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) about possible additional reporting requirements.
If you're running for a state or local office in a jurisdiction with over 5,000 registered voters, or you intend to raise $5,000 or more for your election campaign, then you also need to file a C-1 candidate registration for the 2021 election.
Submit it within two weeks of declaring. Click on Candidate Registrationfor the registration application, where you will file the C-1.
Youneed to also submit a Personal Financial Affairs (F-1) report if:
- You are running for office in a jurisdiction with over 2,000 registered voters, or
- You intend to raise $5,000 or more for your election campaign.
If you need to file an F-1, you must do so within two weeks of declaring your candidacy. Click this link forF-1 instructions.
If you're running for cemetery district commissioner or precinct committee officer, you don't need to file any reports to the PDC, regardless of how many voters are in your jurisdiction or how much you raise.
