The Public Disclosure Commission is seeking public comment on a proposed rule that would make inflationary adjustments to statutory monetary limits and reporting values for campaigns.

A public hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 26, 2023 to accept public comment. Written comment can be sent to pdc@pdc.wa.gov by Jan. 19, 2023.

Under RCW 42.17A.125, the Commission must periodically consider whether to revise the statutory monetary contribution limits and reporting thresholds. Other reporting values established in rule are not subject to the required inflationary review, but may be considered for change at the Commission’s discretion.

The Commission has published a chart showing the effect of inflation since the last time each limit or threshold was enacted by the Legislature. The state Office of Financial Management supplied the inflationary indexes that were used. The Commission may choose to round off the numbers in order to make them accessible to the public.

The Commission will also consider raising the threshold at which a contributor’s occupation and name and address of their employer must be disclosed. This threshold is established in rule and may be revised at the discretion of the Commission.

The Jan. 26 hearing will be accessible in-person and remotely, and will be streamed live at www.TVW.org

To comment live during the hearing, email pdc@pdc.wa.gov by Jan. 24, 2023 to receive a link that will allow you to offer testimony remotely.
