Description

On May 25, 2023, the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) staff received a complaint alleging that Laurel Khan, may have violated RCW 42.17A.700(2) by failing to file a Personal Financial Affairs Statement (F-1) report within 14 days (two weeks) of becoming a candidate; and RCW 42.17A.240(2) for failure to accurately report a contribution on the Cash Receipts Monetary Contribution (C-3) report.

While staff’s review found that Laurel Khan failed to file a Personal Statement of Financial Affairs (F-1) report within 14 days of becoming a candidate, and file an accurate report, she was a first-time candidate who was not familiar with the F-1 and C-3 reporting requirements for a political office.

However, pursuant to WAC 390-37-060(1)(d), staff issued a formal written warning to Ms. Khan for violating the statutory requirements in RCW 42.17A.700 and .240 (2). In the Warning letter, Ms. Khan was informed the Commission would consider the formal written warning issued by staff in deciding on further Commission action if there are future violations of PDC laws and rules.
