On September 10, 14 and December 11, 2023, the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) received complaints from three separate complainants alleging that Kent School District officials, may have violated, RCW 42.17A.555 by using/authorizing the use of Kent School District resources/facilities to promote a ballot proposition.
PDC staff reviewed the allegation(s) contained in the complaints, including the evidence submitted with the complaints and determined that Kent School District officials violated RCW 42.17A.555 by indirectly promoting a ballot proposition in the 2023 election year and resolved the case through a statement of understanding (SOU).
Based on the above determination and the fact that the school district officials signed a SOU and paid a $300 civil penalty, the PDC staff dismissed this matter in accordance with RCW 42.17A.755(1).
