- Tim Verzal: Alleged violation of RCW 42.17A.320 for failure to include party identification for a candidate for partisan office. (EY24 JUN24)
#155329
Tim Verzal
Christopher Hurst
On June 10, 2024, the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) received a complaint alleging that the Respondent in this matter may have violated RCW 42.17A.320 by failing to include sponsor Identification language on political advertising.
Staff's review found that the Respondent's yard signs were purchased about two weeks before the new sponsor identification language became effective and as such his yard signs were exempt from the sponsor identification language requirement. Staff did, however, find that the Respondent failed to include party affiliation on his campaign yard signs, as required by law.
Staff issued a formal written warning to the Respondent for failure to include party affiliation on his campaign yard signs and informed him the Commission would consider the formal written warning in deciding on further Commission action if there are future violations of the PDC laws/rules.
Based on this information, PDC staff dismissed the complaint in accordance with RCW 42.17A.755(1).
Case Closed with Written Warning
