Description

On November 13, 2024, the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) received a complaint alleging that Respondent Jay Eyestone, a 2024 candidate for District Court Judge, Position 2, in Chelan County, may have violated RCW 42.17A.235 and .240 for failure to timely and accurately file contribution and expenditure (C-4) report(s), as required by law.

The staff's review found that the Campaign failed to file an accurate 21-day pre-general (C-4) report, as required by the statutory scheme. The staff noted that on October 10, 2024, the Campaign paid for an ad to be placed in The Wenatchee World, a local newspaper in Chelan County, and failed to timely report the expenditure. The expenditure should have been reported on the 21-day pre-general C-4 no later than October 15, 2024.

On November 21, 2024, the Campaign amended its 21-day pre-general C-4 report and disclosed the October 10, 2024, expenditure for the ads placed in The Wenatchee World. The expenditure should have been disclosed no later than October 15, 2024, and was reported 37 days late on November 21, 2024.

Based on the above findings, the staff issued a formal written warning to the Respondent and dismissed the matter in accordance with RCW 42.17A.755(1).
