The Public Disclosure Commission is due to consider how to establish certain contribution limits in the wake of the 2021 redistricting.
State law establishes limits for political party and caucus committees' contributions to legislative candidates based on registered voter counts within each legislative district as of the most recent general election.
In 2002, the Commission adopted an interpretation that recognized the absence of a most recent general election for the newly constituted legislative districts.
That interpretation established an alternate date for setting contribution limits for party and caucus contributions to legislative campaigns. That approach was reaffirmed in 2011 when the Commission updated Interpretation 02-01 to reflect another round of redistricting.
PDC staff will discuss a possible update to Interpretation 02-01 with the Commission at the March 24 meeting.
